For those of you who have never experienced a Boots Drug Store, you are in for a treat. They are coming to the U.S and there will soon be a lot of positions to fill. Keep your eyes open in your town for any word! They seem to be starting with Minnesota, but it shouldn’t be long before they are in every state.

Now I’m hoping that they decide to come to Canada as well. They were here in the early eighties and then pulled out. That was a sad day.

Take a look

spaLets say that you start out working for at a beauty spa. You have the piece of paper that says that you are a qualified esthetician. But what if you want to do more than simply give massages or facials?

Did it ever occur to you that with experience, you could move into teaching, or perhaps a writer for one of the big fashion magazines? How about someone who comes up with the names of the next season’s lipsticks? All of these jobs are available, but you simply don’t have the network set up (yet) to walk into one of those positions.

There are some amazing jobs out there. It’s all about getting your foot in the door and that takes networking!Think of each day as the day when someone you need, could walk into your life!

makeupI was looking to see what job opportunities the company had on offer and noticed that there are a few shops for sale in Alberta, Canada. Franchising has been put on hold, but you could walk into an established business if you are in the right location.

I always thought that it would be fun to own my own “beauty” shop. I would get to sample everything and as I own half of everything The Body Shop sells, I think that it would be a good fit.

Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Limited-Edition Celebrity Crusade NAILWEAR Nail EnamelI never expected to learn so much from my customers, but you would be surprised. I remember one time in particular (and I will probably remember more) when one woman told me that she often mixed her own nail polishes to create new colors. She would paint her nails in a vivid pink for example and then when it was dry, she would add a coat of gray on top. Yes, there is such a thing as gray nail polish. It can be used on any vibrant color and suddenly you have your own “designer” color. I tried it and she was right. It worked beautifully.

Now if you pass along this little story to another customer, you might make a profitable sale.

bubble bathThis tip is specifically for you Avon reps out there. If you hand out a booklet, and you get an order, you’ve been lucky. It usually takes about 5 times before people begin to respond to advertising. Most simply give up too early.

The unfortunate part is that you have to buy those books and they aren’t cheap. If anyone has any little tricks, please feel free to share!

Burt's Bees Vitamin E Body & Bath OilChances are, if you can give your customer a reason to buy something, she will. Here’s why she needs your bath oil…

Actually, I have a few reasons.

1. If she is a mom, she probably takes next to no time to pamper herself. A nice long soak in a fragrant tub might be something she can do just for herself. Tell her to take a novel in with her and let the stresses of the day evaporate.

2. Bubble baths can dry out the skin. The bath oil will soften her skin and who wants dry flaky skin during the summer months?

3. And here is one you might not have thought of. My mother-in-law would use bottles of brightly colored bath oils (without the labels) to sit in the window of her bathroom… She uses them as bathroom accessories and I have to admit with the sun shining through the window, it was quite effective!

4. And if you haven’t convinced her, give her a sample for free to take home with her. Or if you have your own little business, give her a bottle and tell her that you will come back for it at the end of the week. If she didn’t fall in love with it, all she would have to do is give it back. But don’t be surprised if you just made an easy sale!

There are tons of little sales tricks at your disposal. Just keep track of what has worked in the past and you are on your way to some big sales.

shampoo“French researchers say a by-product of the cider industry could provide an alternative to cosmetic synthetic colourants such as tartrazine (E 102).

The food and cosmetics industries have few solutions when they are looking for a water-soluble yellow colorant. One of the most widely employed is a synthetic pigment, tartrazine (E 102), which is suspected of causing asthma and urticaria. Tartrazine is banned in Norway and Austria.”

I wonder how many people have been affected by tartrazine without realizing. I for one, hope that this works! And it seems that there is a trend towards moving toward all things natural. I hope it continues!!
